Adelaide Zoo

It was Jarrad's first visit to the zoo today. It's changed so much since I was there last, there's a lot less animals than I remember, which is quite sad, but the zoo was nearly bankrupt not long ago, and are still in a lot of trouble, so I think it's pretty good for having such a small budget.

This was the first time I've ever seen a Tasmanian devil, whenever we visit they are hiding. But we got there at a great time, because the zoo keepers were feeding all the animals. Tasmanian devils actually terrify me, they're extremely aggressive and violent. These two came quietly up to us though.

Jarrad's favourites were the giraffes, he sat in his little cart and talked to them.

Kookaburra

This is a cassowary, they always look so calm but actually are some of the most dangerous birds because of their talons, which they use to kick at animals.

We waited around because there was a talk being held in one of the zoo rooms, where the kids got to see animals. They got to pat a snake, a lizard, a possum and a frog, which they were pretty happy about.

I think we probably have the laziest tapirs ever. I have never seen them not sitting right in this spot.

We saw this kids ride... so many feels :( It randomly yelled "CRIKEY!" and "TAKE A LOOK AT THAT BEAUTY"

I admit, I was probably more excited about it than they were.

Here's what annoys me: throwing coins into exhibits. That alligator doesn't want your euros. And zookeepers don't want to fish spare change out of scummy alligator water to get a tip.

The only (tiny) crocodile here

This cool spiny leaf insect was sitting on a railing. You don't really see many like it around here, so possibly he was an escaped one.

This is a quokka, quokkas are super cute and cuddly, they look like they're permanently smiling, and they're really friendly. This one picked rocks from the bottom of Jarrad's shoes, then gave him a cuddle.

There was also an ice cream incident.
